So a few years back I found these amazing Inouk boots at a thrift store for next to nothing. These are my everyday go to boots and I love them soo much. I'm afraid to wear them too much though cuz they are damn near irreplaceable. They never come up on ebay and I have not been able to find another pair in the thrift stores. Now Cougar boots have come out with a new version they call the "Pillow boot" but they are limited edition and 300 bucks! Why Cougar why so much? kinda silly

I decided to go red ( again) and I love it. I used to have red hair alot in high school and in my twenties. It's different and fitting for fall .It's also the only colour I feel comfortable doing at home rather than in a salon.

Here's two of my favorite thrift finds ever. On top is a silk CHANEL blouse. I found this at "donate what you can" thrift store up north. I was shocked to find this !! I love the chevron pattern. I think it's from the 70's or 80's. The second is a YSL silk blouse from Value Village. I paid about 5 dollars for each.

Here's a mix of some new and thrifted stuff. 1st is this pleather jacket from H&M. Just had to have it. Also got this amazing tooled leather bag I spotted at Value Village. A little pricey for 14.00 but so worth it. The toggle is a tooth carved out of wood. I love my calico tote bag my friend picked up at the Victorian Albert Museum in London. He came home from London for a visit and was nice enough to give this to me. I bought the HUGE Madonna tote bag on eBay. Got it for a steal at 12.00. I found this working toy sewing machine from the 60' or 70's at a garage sale for 4.00. Last we have a whole whack of little girl hair accessories. I was thinking about old school Courtney Love and how she used to wear the barrettes and found all these still in the package at the thrift store.

So I found these crushed velvet platforms at Value Village awhile back. At first I thought they were 70's and then saw they were from Nine West and figured they were 90's. I also thought they were kinda ugly too but ended up changing my mind when I tried them on. There very deee-liteish. I also have been thinking of getting some of those crazy "bumpits" they advertise on tv so I can have a big bouffant type hairdo like Lady Miss Kier's.

Just picked up this floral bustier on a whim at walmart of all places. They also had it in blue floral and solid black and purple. This is obviously a complete rip of the top shop verison (shown in the second picture) which I'm pretty sure was a complete rip of Chloe's version for Opening Ceremony. For 14.00 though you can't lose! I also got this cheek tint blush from Joe Fresh. These are only 4 dollars! Almost every superstore I went to was sold out of the pink and the peach but I finally found the pink. They remind of the really big lip balms they used to have in the 80's.

I tried to find the perfect black leather bag but just could'nt so ended up buying this fake leather version from aldo. It was only 30.00 and had my eye on it when it was full price. I also picked up this see through eggplant burnout tank from AA and also decided to buy somthing a little frivilous and picked up this striped bodysuit from AA. Kinda reminds me of a bodyglove bathing suit I think I had as a kid. I think I will wear this with my black ditto's highwaisted bells and some wedge heels.

I have been on mad hunt for the perfect pair of flats. I have bought and returned like 4 pairs of flats so far! I can't seem to find a nice quality pair that fits! The top pairs are two identical vintage mary jane style shoes from Montreal. I found these together at a thrift store one day. I never wear them but I should. I also found the red Bandolino ones at the thrift as well. The brown, silver and purple ones were all 5$ at walmart. I dont love any of them but for 5 bucks I could'nt resist. I bought and returned the amazing red suede pair from aldo. They are very cute but just did'nt fit right.I also bought and returned the black leather pair from aldo but may go back and get a similar pair because I just cant find anything else better. The last pair are my favorite flats ever from aldo which I had but had to throw in the garbage not too long ago. I wore them out and they had to go :( shoulda nailed them to the shoe tree that we drive by up north at the trailer.

I was going to buy these at full price a long time ago so glad I waited.I finally picked up the Switchblade Sisters Hellz Bellz tee from cultist shop. The graphic is the orginal design from the movie cover but the colours have been changed. I also got my Diana F+ camera!. I can't wait to shoot some photos with this but still gotta find a place close by that will develop the 120 film for a reasonable price. I also splurged and got these aqua Ray Ban wayfarer's from eBay.

Last night on the CBC show the Passionate Eye they showed "New York Doll", a documentry about New York Doll's bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane. He never made any money from the Doll's and wound up poor and sad for many years. Then he found god and became a Morman and found steady work in the Morman library. He never gave up hope that the Doll's would play again though. Eventually they did reuinte (the surviving members,of course) and Arthur died shortly after. This movie was so good, very moving. I almost cried at the end. You must see it.

Video quality is terrible in this youtube clip but it's the trailer and gives you a good idea of the movie.

So here is another recent splurge. I went to Ottawa (Canada's capital city) and stayed at a hotel downtown. I went to the Sephora and was walking out without buying anything (feeling relieved) but then spotted the Kat Von D display. I'm not a fan but I do watch the show and sometimes like her style. I ended up buying this eyeshadow pallette in "Beethoven". The picture (from sephora website) does'nt do it justice. The colours are gorgeous!. The dark purple has sparkles in it and black is very matte.I also got this onesie for a friend's baby shower. I was tempted to buy a diana lomo camera from a cool art store but decided to try to get a better deal on ebay.

I just HAD to buy a pair. Screw the recession I'm going to buy 40.00 earrings! These are the smaller version . I don't think I can pull off the huge ones. He made the earrings for the factory girl movie which I actually thought was pretty good. I also recently finished the book Edie:American Girl by Jean Stein and George Plimpton. It was written in 1982 but is supposed to be one the best books written about her. It was good read and Edie is always an inspiration.

So I decided that I was tired of using cheap handbags and decided to try to find a nice good quality leather purse. I went to winnners and had no luck. I went the mall and again could not believe how cheap and ugly most purses are! It's one of those things, when you are looking for somthing you can't find it. I finally found this beautiful chocolate brown leather bag at Roots. I have not bought from that store for years. It is called Vicki's Tote and is a large size bag. The bag was on sale half price from 300.00 which for me is a huge splurge but it will last me forever and it is Canadian made right here in Toronto. It has an exposed zipper on each side and the leather is sooo soft .

I went to the thrift store and was hoping to find a striped Hudson's Bay blanket. Of course I didn't find one but I did find this vintage Hudson's Bay jacket. I always keep an eye out for these jackets. It has little suede tree's and igloos on it and has fox fur trim. Sorry to all animal activists out there. I love animals alot but don't have qualms about buying vintage fur. This coat goes well enough with my baby blue chooka's so now I have somthing to wear them with . The jacket cost 15 dollars. The green jacket is an old find from the salvation army. It was a huge steal at 5.00. It was made in The Pas, Manitoba and must be older than the blue one. I love the mondo metal zipper, the satin lining and the pom pom's.

I FINALLY got my hands on the Dimepiece "dirty looks" tunic. It was supposed to be sold out everywhere a long time ago but found it on sale at http://www.cultistshop.com/cult/. I also picked up this lace print Mama Tee. This tee reminds me of the british knights shoes from the 80's I posted about months ago. I had some issues with the shipping but they were very good about it.

I also really want to pick up this this hellz bellz switchblade sisters tee. That movie is my favorite of all time and where the name for the blog came from.

It has snowed SO much here in the last week I really cant get too excited about dressing up.
The snow is up to my knees in the parking lot of my apartment building. It's not easy to look cute! My favorite everyday boots are "chooka's". These are discontinued but you can still find them kicking around on the net and eBay. I am on my second pair of ruby red ones and I love them so much. I know people hate sheepskin boots but I love these and they gets lots of compliments! I The other thing I'm loving are these denim look leggings from ebay seller sothisatia.

I bought a black pair months ago and have been wearing them a ton. They are thick and good for winter. I just bought another black and a dark blue pair today.

So here's some of my favorite new things. First I found these amazing vintage Inouk boots at Value Village and me being the coupon queen got them basically free. they have a red interior. I've been looking for a pair of these for long time!. Next is this vintage wool cape that I also found at the thrift store awhile ago . I cannot figure out if this is homemade or not because there is no tag but the details on it are pretty inticate for a homemade peice. This was only 5 bucks!. Third we have the caplet from Joe Fresh. I was looking at this for months and months and it finally went on sale for 40.00. looks much better on.

I have looked EVERYWHERE for a new pair of black ankle boots lately. I didn't want to buy anything online, I wanted them to be real leather and I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. I bought 2 pairs at aldo that I returned as I just did'nt love them enough for the price I paid. Finally found these by "Z london" or somthing like that in an expensive shoe store at the mall. They were only 65.00 marked down from 195.00! The leather is like butter and they have the hidden platform which I like.I also found another pair of Frye's at the thrift store. These ones have the elk or deer stiching and they have the old black label. They were 20.00 but I had a coupon for 10.00 off! I have a vintage knock -off verison of these but they never fit right. They are kinda beat up but still have lots of life left in them. I cant believe my luck with finding cool vintage boots lately!

Found another bakelite bracelet at the same Value Village! This one is "peanut butter" swirl (shown on the mini pumpkin). These must all be from the same person and they just got put out at different times. I wonder how much of it I missed? Also picked up this carved necklace which I'm pretty sure is ivory. The pendant has a carved elephant. It's terrible to think what happened to the poor elephant but like most people I would never buy ivory new.

I have been collecting bakelite for years and this is the 1st time in a LONG time that I have found some at a thrift store so I was excited to find these. The mustard stretch bracelet was 5.00 and the orange bangle was 1.00. I also found these old salvatore ferragamo shoes at the salvation army for 4.00. They are a tiny bit bit big but I could'nt resist. I looked up Salvatore Ferragamo and found many silimar styles (shown in the last picture) so I guess this is a classic style. They look to be from the 50's or 60's maybe. I have found so much cool stuff lately especially up north at our trailer where stuff is dirt cheap.

I saw these new "Kova and T" lace leggings on http://www.myfashionlife.com/ and really liked the look of them however I would never pay the price. I decided to get these simliar pair from Lip Service shown in the 1st picture instead . The Lip Service pair are from the discontinued "Laced with Posion" line, so I had to get them on Ebay. I already have a top from this line and the lace is really stretchy and beautiful. I do like how they have styled them in the Kova picture in the way that the rest of the model's outfit is not too gothic or 80's.

For any Canadian girls looking for a cheap pair of oxfords I got these from Zellers! I've looked everywhere and these were the cheapest I could find. They were 35.00 but they have that BOGO(hate that acronym) thing going on now. Payless wanted 60.00 for a pair!? Anyway's these are pretty sweet and the heel is not too high for everyday wear.

Olympic Fever!

I am OBSESSED with the Olympics . I watch them pretty much every year they happen . This is seriously all I have been watching for the last week and a half. Canada got a slow start but were doing pretty good now! Usain bolt's victory dance after winning the 200 m was awesome. SO happy that Priscilla Lopes-Schliep won the bronze in women's 100 m hurdle!!! She is from the same town I live in.

It has bottles of "absolute soda" and absolute peppar" on it along with "The finest caviar from vigin sturgeon", cheese, chess pieces and fish?? All the finer things in life I guess. The chess pieces are drinking the booze. I wasn't sure I liked it or not but it was so weird I couldn't resist! The tote is from Joe Fresh.

I decided to buy my boyfriend one of these long sleeve skull skates T-shirts from skull skates in Vancouver for his birthday and just couldn't resist getting one for myself ! The logo/brand is classic. Of course I had to stash it away until I gave him his. We will have to make sure we don't wear it at the same time though. I dont' wanna end up looking like the bobsi twins whoever they are! My boyfriend told me he had an awesome skull skates jacket back in highschool but he sold it for 10 bucks!! Definatly regretting that! Ladies, one word of advice, don't even bother getting the ladies long sleever. It fits waaay too tight and short, just get a men's small or medium. I had to send mine back and get a men's one which is much better. Got the little pin and some stickers too. Here is a cool pic of Jennifer Herrema in her skull skates hoodie.

Thought I would share one of my greatest thrift score's of all time. A real Bones gas station jacket from the 80's! I found this at the goodwill over 10 yrs ago when I was in highschool. The previous owner put some little drawings of some guy on it but you cant see them as well in real life and dont detract too much. I used to wear it all the time like some skater version of rizzo from grease. I've had many offers to sell it over the years but NO DICE.

So i finally caved and bought me a few pairs of those AA lame leggings that everybody and their mother has BUT I refused to pay $50.00 CAD for them and got a sweet deal from an Ebay seller. I got the black matte pair and a pair of the eel ones for $25 each!. I swear AA raised their Canadian prices which is fucked up considering how good our dollar is doing. I also bought one of those melange funnel neck dresses in black and a tube bra in purple and smoke from AA itself but still got the 15% off code online which is cool. It's such rip off to buy stuff in the physical store .

I remember travelling to the states when I was a kid and just loved looking for strange new products. It all seemed so different to me..About 15 yrs ago I found a can of Murry's at the drug store. I just loved the waxy smell of it more then using it.The styling of the tin is cool too.I still have that damn can and it's not even 3/4 done!. That shit never goes bad , its pure petroleum! The Chapelle show has a a game show parody called "I know black people" . The grand prize at the end was gift bag including a "lifetime supply" of Murry's. Dave the host goes on to say "One can, and that IS a lifetime supply, trust me" hahahah

Tonight I found another pair of Frye boots and these one fit! Hooray! This is the 3rd pair I have purchased and the 1st one that really fit and amazingly they worked out to 3 bucks with coupon! . Also another one my recent obsessions is the Body Shop aroma jar for home frangrance oils shown in the picture. I found it at the goodwill for $1.00 . I was going to buy a one new for $15 before I found this one.
